What personal information Favored Generation collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, when it may be shared, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.
This describes our actual current practice. The jurisdiction-specific rights wording for Canada and the United States is with legal review, and the version and approval date will be published here once confirmed.
Principle
We collect the minimum information needed for the purpose you gave it for, we limit who can see it, and we do not repurpose it for something you did not agree to. Children and young people receive additional protection.
Declining photography, publicity or marketing never affects your access to a general community-support program.
What we collect
This site has five forms. Each collects only what its purpose needs:
Enquiry category, name, email, country and city, your message, and your consent record.
Name, email, telephone, location, whether you are 18 or over, areas of interest, availability, skills, motivation, any accommodation request, and your screening and privacy consent records.
Whether anyone is in immediate danger, location, program if known, and your description. Name and email are optional so a concern can be reported anonymously.
A name of your choosing, email, what you are asking for, and an optional request. Held privately and never published.
First name, email, country or region, and your communication consent record.
Standard server request information, and an invisible anti-spam field on each form. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking on this website.
Third parties
Our giving and partnership pages embed donation forms provided by Zeffy, a third-party fundraising platform. When one of those forms loads, Zeffy receives the technical request information any web server receives, and it processes whatever you enter into the form itself — including your name, contact details and payment information.
We never see or store your payment card details. Information you submit through a Zeffy form is handled under Zeffy’s own privacy terms as well as ours, and the receipt for your gift comes from the Favored Generation entity you selected.
These forms load only on the pages that display them. If you would rather not use an embedded form, contact us and we will arrange another way to give.
How we handle it
Responding to your enquiry, delivering a program you asked to take part in, meeting our legal and reporting obligations, and protecting participants.
Only the people who need it for that purpose. Safeguarding reports reach a designated lead rather than a shared inbox.
Health, safeguarding, financial and child-related information is held separately from promotional and general reporting systems, and never enters them.
With a delivery partner where you have agreed and it is needed to deliver a program; with a professional service on referral where you have asked us to refer you; and with a public authority where law or immediate safety requires it.
We do not sell personal information, rent mailing lists, or publish a participant story or photograph without documented consent.
Information given to the Canadian entity and the United States entity is held by that entity. Registration numbers and contact routes for each are on the governance page.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it, withdraw a consent you previously gave, or unsubscribe from communications at any time.
Withdrawing consent to photography, publicity or optional faith-based content never affects access to a general program. You can also withdraw consent for a story or photograph after it has been published, and we will remove it.
The precise statutory rights that apply depend on your location and on which entity holds the information. That jurisdiction-specific wording is with legal review; in the meantime, ask us and we will act on the request rather than wait for the wording.
Tell us. Privacy complaints go through the complaints route, are acknowledged, and are reviewed. Raising one in good faith never counts against you.
